Believe me, no bank is giving you something that will not benefit them in the long run. Sometimes those perks may only be offered for a limited time and then in some months you begin to see interest on your bills. Sometimes they only offer those services to those who stay current on their bills and if you are late or over the limit they will slam you with up to 25% interest and late fees and overage charges. Read the fine print, not just what looks good. There may be no interest and no fees for purchases, but like a 19% on everything else,i.e. cash advances, transfers, etc

It depends whether your bank has closed shop completely, or they closed shop and sold your account to another bank.

If they closed shop, then they might be declaring bankruptcy. I don't think you'd be impacted.

If they sold your account, then the other bank has the right to collect on the money that you owe.

Either way, it's simply like this: as long as you have a balance on your [credit card] account, you WILL be charged interest.

I worked there for about 3 months in 1999. Like the other person said the pay is decent, but I left because I wanted better hours and not have to work every other weekend. If you don't mind people calling to yell and cuss you out about their bill statement, then you will do just fine! :)

Good question-!!

Either one (banks or the networks) should come up with that option. Visa came up with "Verified by Visa". Instant e-mail notifications on transactions as an option, is a great idea.

Either one could easily cover the infrastructure costs. Credit bureaus charge membership fees for 24/7 credit monitoring with e-mail notifications when changes occur but, where am I going with that?

To begin with, I'm not sure if "any insiders" even thought of that. They should read this post but not the part that you said, "I never use my card"....ha-ha. It would imply, they're not gonna make any money off you. (i-e: so why bother).

It is a matter of security. Keep suggesting to banks or Visa,MC, Amex,DC. These payment methods are popular by the minute.

EDIT: Visa came up with $0 liability protection a few years back on all their USA issued cards.(debit and credit). In that case, it would help them in order that card holders get to know any unauthorized transactions immediately as they happen (not a few days online or at a statement weeks later). Other companies, if not, may well follow suit.
