Help answer the question about credit card payment
Will a credit card payment that was three days late adversely effect my credit score?Details-I don't remember the exact date but I had a credit card payment that wasn't credited as paid until 3 days after it was due. From my understanding this probably didn't hurt my credit rating too much, that it's not really a big problem until it's 30 days late, sent to collections, etc? Anyways, my main question is that which appears in the headline-will a payment that was three days late have severe effects on my credit score? Thanks.

I have been a reporter and author on the debt industry for over 4 years. I have reviewed several companies in regards to Christian debt consolidation as several of my readers have asked this exact question. The main thing to look for is a company that offers several options, a free consultation, and has an excellent BBB rating. I have tried over 35 different services and this one has been the best above all others:

You will notice that it has a legitimate website URL and is not being used for marketing purposes like the other answers submitted to this question.

They are marketing this device specifically for the iphone though, which does have a camera.
There’s already software to read barcodes with the camera,
so you can check prices in the stores and
get comparison prices from other stores.
Desktops don’t have a minijack that you can use for this anyway.
There it would need usb or firewire.

Doing nothing is a really bad idea. If you get sued anyway. Do not ignore court papers if a creditor sues you, that is what will get you in trouble.
1 – the only other disadvantage i can think of is that it can adversely effect your ability to get certain types of jobs. You will be able to secure undesirable credit right away though. (reall high interest rates.
2 – Whether you have to file a chapter 13 and pay a percentage of debt depends on the means test, not real expenses, but I'm guessing you probably won't need a chapter 13.
3 – It depends on the job in the government you're looking into. In some positions I don't think it matters, in others it may make the difference because of security clearances.
4 – I don't know what the going rate for bankruptcies is in your neck of the woods, you have to ask the attorneys that do bankruptcy to find that out.
5 – Like I said, doing nothing is a bad idea. It's one thing if they haven't sued you, but once they do (and they do more often than that article makes you think) ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away.

$9,000 is not a big deal at all.
If any are seriously past due, you can call them and make an offer for much less than she owes. Just make sure to get the agreement in writing, then mail a money order (not a check) along with a copy of the letter. Keep the original letter and copy of the money order FOREVER.
For the rest, make all the minimum payments every month. Take EVER EXTRA DOLLAR you have and put it to the lowest balance. Once that is paid off (which should be quickly), start applying that amount to the next one. Continue the debt snowball until you are out of debt.
To do this you have to cut out ALL unneeded expenses. Don't eat out, don't buy new clothes, get rid of the cable, get rid of the cell phone, etc..
If needed, get an extra part-time job (or two).
Just buckle down and pay it off. IF you booth work hhard at it you could easily pay it off in less than a year.
In the meantime PAY ONLY CASH OR DEBIT for everything.
DON'T CONSOLIDATE. Rolling everything into one payment does NOTHING to get you out of debt, and it frees up all those credit cards so she can charge up more junk. Your problem is not having to write a bunch of checks each month so consolidation won't help.

how did you get a proto type?

True, but not all devices have cameras. iPad, iPod Touch, and even some desktops/laptops.
They may have considered the idea, but I think the 3.5mm jack is more prevalent than a camera.

All modern phones have a camera.

First thing is you need a DUNS number, which is a credit account for your business. When you set up an account with them you would be asked to list your vendors with which you have payment terms. The DUNS organization will then contact them to verify your information.

pages and pages of complaints, mostly that you end up in court anyway because these companies do nothing but take your money.
Please google that, it will open your eyes.
You can do this yourself.

Pointless device.
1 – You could just type in the credit card information manually. It’s the same.
2 – It would make WAY more sense to just snap a picture of the front of the credit card, and have the application recognize the credit card number from that picture. All existing and easy technology and no need for extra devices.

Those are fair points. I’m not defending them but I think this is why they created the device:
1). Yes you can, but it’s faster to swipe. In a retail setting, some people get nervous when they read their number out loud or if a cashier has to manually enter a number.
2). Snapping a picture is an interesting way to do this. The Square, makes it possible to quickly receive the numbers via a phone, or, in the future, from any device w/ a 3.5 mm jack (no camera required).
