You will probably only qualify for a card with high annual fees – which will each you up alive.
Try the secured card.
You can put $500 into an account, and use money from it.
Replace every cent at the end of the month to show good usage.
I don't think getting a higher limit will do anything for you.
After a year of good usage, this may turn into a credit card.
Note: Secured cards carry annual fees of 40 or 50 bucks – so use it wisely.
Once you get the credit card – consider paying it in full each month.
This way you never pay interest on the card.
Future creditors will not know if you are paying interest or not by looking at your report.
But your report will show balances since cards report on the closing date (when they send out the bill).

If you are not comfortable with using your credit card online, then you can go to your local police or sheriff's office and they can give you your background check report in a couple of hours for 15 to 20 bucks ,depending on your state..
